Established in 2019 to facilitate a safe space for a few dozen children to kick around a ball, Lenaa Academy now regularly hosts more than eighty children every week. Under the guidance and mentorship support of Head Coach Basil and Coach Pius, the children develop their ball skills whilst focusing on teamwork, discipline, and effective communication techniques.
Coming together from a diverse community of pastoralist tribes, religions and clans, the children learn tolerance and understanding through their love for football. Each training session seeks to develop their technical skills as well as strengthen their personal values and self-discipline to prevent and protect against their participation in tribal feuds later in adolescence and adult lives.
The provision of football kits is heavily subsidised by Lenaa Academy. Parents are asked to make a small contribution to minimise barriers to their child’s participation, whilst reinforcing a sense of acceptance, inclusion, belonging and shared values. At the conclusion of every session, children come together to take porridge, tea, and biscuit snacks before heading home to offer help with chores or complete homework as they committed too, within their Academy Contract on enrolling into the Academy.
Lenaa Academy provides unique space where boys and girls as young as six years, and teenage boys and girls can come together to develop skills, as well as understanding and respect for each other.
Through the tremendous support of friends, we are able to ship football kits, boots and sportswear from the UK directly to these children.
Allowances for coaches, refreshments, shipping freight and transport costs for playing in local tournaments are all sourced through Lenaa Adventures.
